CARNINJA BUYING GUIDE
How to read a Japanese car auction sheet
Understand auction grades, condition notes and the questions to ask before bidding.
Start with the vehicle identity
Match the model code, chassis number, year and trim to the car you are considering. Similar model names can describe different engines, drivetrains and equipment.
Read more than the overall grade
An overall grade is a summary, not a complete inspection. Review the interior grade, damage diagram and written inspector comments together. Ask your Japan partner to explain repairs, corrosion and any unclear markings.
Confirm the equipment
A sunroof, surround-view camera or body kit can affect your comparison with other cars. Treat equipment that is not recorded as unconfirmed, rather than assuming it is absent.
Check the deadline before bidding
The auction venue date and the bidding deadline are separate fields. Confirm the current deadline and availability with your Japan partner before authorizing a bid.
